Living in light and going deep. Welcome to the quiet garden space of meditation, stillness and reflection...
This morning slightly bleary eyed, I did my usual morning school run, kissed my daughter and fiance goodbye and went for a morning walk in the forest before work. For the last 15 years I've been magnetised by the power of nature to heal. When I've sought solace, needed to head to toe release grief, when I've needed an answer I couldn't find, or an intuition I had yet to find or the peaceful message of the spirit of a place.I go back. If I need to feel the vastness of the sky to find my right place in myself in life, if I need to ground and feel there is no such thing as abandonment. I search out the giant family of the forest. I'm a sibling for some creatures, a mother to imperceptible bugs and microorganisms and a child to the giant trees and vast clouds of the sky. Clattering around in everyday human life loses its dimension without the mental dissolving nature has on our systems. Being in nature can invoke a power from other life forms to empower our lives.
We can find this power particularly at liminal times early morning and early evening when we can experience the rotation of the earth. I have recieved a profound sense of scale and perspective of my own life.
This morning I found a forest tree which I could lean against upright so the whole of my spine rested on it. I breathed deeply there feeling my spinal cord against its big bundle of a trunk. In fact its own spinal column. We have a lot in common. The way the nerves diverge at the top of my spine and spread through the brain, so does the the branches of the tree spread through its crown. But all I needed to do was breathe and rest and give to my friend here, to its crown and the roots, everything I needed to empty of. And so it takes in all I expell and transforms it into new breath.
Find for yourself a tree you feel you belong to. One that whispers to you and feel back to back to begin with its physical presence, its height, its texture on your back. Ground with it physically feeling your roots. Feel the crown of your head expand, opening up into its branches. Breathe, rest, empty your pains as if like an escalator sending it up to the branches or down to its root. Feel grounded , feel joy, feel thankful.
If you sense this may be good for you but your mind is saying otherwise) remember that we all need help. We need to let go of what doesnt serve our love, health and happiness. The incredible magnificance and power of nature is so giving and nurturing.
With love x
